In today's society a degree from anywhere is worth more than from no where. EMU is the top teaching school in the state which makes prospective teachers more willing to go to a smaller university than say U of M or MSU. Many programs do have an ample amount of internships and we hold job fairs as well. Some programs will help more than others with landing you and internship but those who need them often get them. Some of the career center counselors are incredibly helpful while others are like talking to a brick wall; you just have to find the right one.

I've had great professors, decent professors and one that just sucked. For the most part there is a variety of course to choose from, many different majors/minors to choose from and most classes are offered in both the fall and winter semesters. Many professors know what they're talking about and love to give different ways for us to learn the material. Some more real life examples than others while some use humor to teach. There are of course the older professors who just lecture on and on and on as well. Class sizes are usually around 30 people unless held in a bigger lecture hall for biology, chemistry, etc., which can range from 60-120. Still though, the professors help you out if needed with office hours and the GA's help aswell.

So far my 2 years at Eastern Michigan University have gone pretty well. Aside from my personal difficulties, the school itself is a pretty decent school. EMU is located in Ypsilanti which doesn't have the greatest reputation but campus seems to be like its own little city; one that's much safer but still can be dangerous. EMU is also known for being incredibly accepting of the LGBT community and every year people get together to make a gay pride flag out of little colored flags representing gay youth who commit suicide. Last year these freshman destroyed it the night it went up and the next morning people from all over campus came together to put it back together. Greek life on campus makes up less than 1% but us Greeks stand up for one another despite the rivalries. There are many clubs and organizations that people can choose to be apart of that suits their interests. If I had to choose to go here again, I would. It's a semi-large university but you get more one on one instruction because class sizes are smaller than those of massive universities.
