Overall, I have had a positive experience at FIT. I feel confident that I will find a job in my field upon graduation. The professors here are very supportive and have many connections in their fields. Just by having FIT on my resume, will help me in making connections and finding jobs. They have a great reputation in the design world.

I have enjoyed my FIT experience overall so far. The professors are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about our field (fashion design). I have definitely improved and refined my skills with their guidance. A huge complaint that I have is that the environment can be hard to work in. The rooms in which I've had classes are (in fact) almost 90 degrees most of the year (in the summer, fall, and spring). I suffer with easily becoming overheated and would often have to go outside to prevent passing out. The equipment isn't reliable. For example, once when I was in a full class, we were wrongly put into a classroom half the size of the usual ones which had no windows. We were sharing one iron (which sometimes didn't work) causing a huge line a slower productivity. In one of our buildings, students are forbidden from using the elevator, so we use the alternate, the escalators. These escalators were rarely all working, forcing me (a commuter with a 10+ pound bag of supplies) to walk up 6-8 flights. Overall my learning experience at FIT has been an extremely positive one but the actual environment has not.

I had pretty high expectations about FIT, and it didn't meet all of those expectations unfortunately. Despite that, I still believe that if you are wanting to be in the fashion industry in any aspect and want a foot in the door, this is the best place to be to get that experience.
