the university of the arts offers a unique experience for young artists looking for ways to dive into the philly art scene and meet other artists doing the same. the academics are pretty average with a few really cool professors here and there. the school does seem to cater to those who choose traditional arts (i.e dancing, acting, illustration) over others, but if you find yourself shorthanded the staff is pretty welcoming to new ideas.

I Enjoy my school very much! As an artist, I love the creative atmosphere, location, and diversity at UArts. Overall, I've found it to be a perfect fit for me.

This school gives me everything I wanted, needed and more to be a well rounded artist. I came to this school to become a better dancer by the time I graduate, but I never realized that in only one year of attending this school, I have a deeper understanding and education for art in general. In only one year I have learned that it is not enough to just be a talented dancer. Anyone can learn to move their body in certain ways, and anyone can train their bodies to perform with grace and athleticism. I have realized that in order to be a true artist, I have to be a true person. I have to be educated about the world around me and I have to have strong and smart views on current relevant topics. I have to understand other art around me in order to be a well rounded artist. I feel as thought this school has the tools and the environment to create and guide well rounded and credible artists. I have never felt so supported by fellow classmates, upperclassmen and teachers in my educational experience so far. The first time the freshman class ever performed as a whole was during dress rehearsal for the spring POD performances. The upperclassmen in the audience were truly our biggest fans. They showed us constant support and appreciation. When we finished the piece and the curtain came down, the small amount of upperclassmen in the audience literally went crazy for us. They did the same on the first night of the show when we came up to the balcony seats during intermission after we were on stage. These two moments have stuck to me as a strong support and appreciation for dance. There is a constant competition in what we do, and in most environments dance doesn't have an immense amount of support. This department and program at the University of the Arts is made up of a unique and supportive group of educated and skillful artists and mentors who 100% believe in each and every student they have. It truly shows through the amount of hard work and hours they put towards students.
